Overview
Life Inbox AI ("Life Inbox", "we", "us") is a mobile app that helps households capture, organize, and search personal documents such as bills, receipts, letters, warranties, invoices, and tax records. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, how it is used, and the controls you have over your data.
Life Inbox AI helps organize your documents. It does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we handle the information needed to authenticate you, managed through our identity provider, Clerk. This typically includes your email address and authentication credentials.
Documents and their contents
When you capture or upload a document, we store the file and process its contents to extract useful details. Documents may contain personal information that you choose to include — for example, vendor names, amounts, dates, and addresses.
Extracted metadata
From your documents, we derive structured fields that help organize your vault, which may include:
- Vendor or sender, amount, tax amount, and currency
- Document date, due date, return-by date, warranty date, and retention date
- Category, document type, recurring cadence, and an AI-generated summary
- Confidence score, action reason, and review warnings
Usage and billing information
We process information related to your subscription, credit balance, and purchases so the app functions correctly.
How we use information
- To securely store your documents and keep your vault organized and searchable
- To run AI extraction and present details for you to review before saving
- To surface priority actions such as upcoming due dates and follow-up tasks
- To group tax-relevant documents into a tax packet at your request
- To manage your account, subscription, and credit balance
- To maintain the security and reliability of the service
AI extraction
Document extraction is powered by an OpenAI-based workflow. When a document is processed, its contents are used to extract the structured fields described above. You review the extracted details before they are saved to your vault, so you remain in control of what gets recorded.
AI extraction consumes credits at a rate of one credit per page. Extraction results are estimates and may contain errors, which is why a review step is included.
Storage & service providers
We rely on a small set of established providers to operate Life Inbox:
- Clerk — authentication and account access
- Backblaze B2 — secure storage of your document files
- PostgreSQL — storage of document metadata and extracted fields
- OpenAI — the AI extraction workflow
- RevenueCat — subscription and credit purchase management, alongside the App Store and Google Play
These providers process data on our behalf so the app can function. We do not sell your personal documents or the information extracted from them.
Billing
Subscriptions and credit purchases are handled through the mobile app using the RevenueCat purchase flow with the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment details are processed by those platforms — we do not store your full payment card information.
Monthly plan credits reset each billing cycle. Top-up credits you purchase carry over and never expire, and are used after your monthly plan credits.
Your controls
- Review extracted fields before any document is saved
- Edit document details and categories within the app
- Delete individual documents at any time
- Request full account deletion through the account deletion workflow
Account deletion
You can request deletion of your account at any time through the in-app account deletion workflow. When you delete your account, we remove your documents and associated metadata from active systems. You may also delete individual documents without deleting your account.
To delete a single document, open it in your vault and choose delete. To delete your entire account, use the account deletion option in your account settings, or email hello@lifeinbox.app.
Data retention
We keep your documents and extracted metadata for as long as your account is active so the service remains useful to you. When you delete a document or your account, the associated data is removed from active systems. Limited records may be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Children's privacy
Life Inbox AI is intended for adults managing household documents and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app.
